Officials/Masters vs. Bootlegs
All of the CDs distributed on Mix Tape Detroit are 100% official masters, purchased
directly from the DJ Artists themselves. Mix Tape Detroit WILL NEVER BOOTLEG
CDs OR DISTRIBUTE BOOTLEG CDs IN ANY SHAPE, FORM OR FASHION. Creating dope-azz mixtapes is an art, and the DJs that create this art should be the only ones
to decide how their art is distributed. If you have ever purchased a bootleg
CD in the past, you know that the quality is NOT the same as an official master.
Bootleg CD covers are often flimsy, poor-quality inserts that are poorly copied
and sometimes unreadable. As for the actual mixtape CDs, they too are much more
prone to errors, be it with recordings, track listings, or inferior recording
quality. Bootlegs are generally sold in the street or at Mom N Pop stores at
a reduced price. Master CDs are sold at quality websites and stores for approx.
$7 to $12. Some sites may look like they sell masters, but they really do not.
If they do not promote the fact that they sell official mixtapes somewhere
clearly visible on their site, they are probably not selling official masters.
MixTapeDetroit.com is proud to support the DJs/artists and the mixtape/music culture.Keep
in mind it can take a bootlegger up to a couple of weeks weeks (and in many
areas much longer than that) to get a hot mixtape copied, duplicated, and out
in circulation. By the time you cop that bootleg, you are the last one the block
to hear all the latest fire coming off the streets -- so, what is the point?
